Disney’s Frozen has the answer to breaking out of karmic cycles that hold us back from true inner child healing.
In this post, I’m spilling the tea on how “Frozen” taps into the realm of inner child healing through Anna and Elsa.
Trust me, this is the key to elevating your relationships and finding that deep-seated fulfillment we’re all after.
So, buckle up, and let’s uncover the secrets behind this Movie With a Message!
Elsa’s Childhood Before the Karmic Cycle
Meet Elsa.
Elsa was born with magical powers that allow her to manipulate snow and ice.
A super exciting gift that created a fun, snow-filled childhood for both Elsa and her sister, Anna.
Until the day Elsa slipped up and accidentally popped Anna in the head.
Surprisingly, the King and Queen, their parents, knew just what to do to get Anna some help.
They leave their Kingdom of Arendelle and rush Anna to the forest.
All to find some trolls that can help reverse Elsa’s ice magic.
In a spiritual context, snow and ice are linked to the element of water, symbolizing the realm of emotions and feelings.
Elsa’s abilities, therefore, are intricately tied to her capacity to harness and manage her emotions effectively.
Similar to when people have gifted traits such as energy reading, creativity, empathy, and leadership—blessings that can turn into curses if you’re not conscious of your emotions.
After healing Anna, the trolls warn Elsa that fear will be her enemy.
This prompts the King and Queen to take extreme measures to help her control her emotions.
Which unfortunately results in Elsa’s isolation and attempted suppression of her gifts.
Anna’s Childhood before the Karmic Cycle
Now, Meet Anna.
She and Elsa were inseparable as kids.
They had these awesome childhood memories, full of laughs, snow, and fun.
But now Elsa’s all isolated in her room with no explanation.
Lame, right?
To add to it, Arendelle’s basically closed, and the castle no longer allows visitors.
Also lame.
Anna passes the time, imagining the day she can break free and experience the warmth, fun, and connection she’s been craving.
Fast forward to Anna and Elsa’s teenage years, the King and Queen set sail.
And they vanish, never to be seen again.
Leaving Elsa to step into her role as the next Queen of Arendelle much earlier than expected.
The Open Heart Chamber of the Heart Chakra
Elsa’s long-awaited coronation day breaks the silence and sets the scene for a pivotal moment between both sisters.
Opening the door for them to interact with the outside world and for us to watch the messages unfold.
But before we get into that, we have to talk about the heart chakra.
While my Moana video discussed cultivating the “strong” heart, Frozen taps into balancing the “open” heart.
The part of the heart chakra that holds the essence of your inner child.
It embraces self-expression and pursues joy. All while opening you up to the abundant goodness life has to offer.
It’s possible to be completely unaware of how your imbalanced heart chakra affects your life.
This is why it’s crucial to understand the message in Disney’s Frozen. Because while you may be unaware, the effects are unavoidable. And they rear their ugly head in the area of life that we can’t ignore.
Our connections with others.
Elsa’s Underactive Heart Chakra
Opening the gates becomes Elsa’s worst nightmare. Life outside her protective bubble is threatening, not fun, and haunts her with the possibility of persecution for her authentic self-expression.
The fear of slipping up and being seen hovers over her like a dark cloud. She can’t let loose, and no one can get too close to her.
So, when Anna comes to Elsa and asks why can’t it be like this all the time, she’s like hell, no girl. Enjoy this while it lasts.
Elsa’s heart chakra is, you guessed it, Underactive. And she’s not alone.
The heart chakra is the most common chakra to have out of balance.
So, if you resonate with Elsa.
And you
- Break into a cold sweat just thinking of sharing your feelings
- Are shy or antisocial
- Disappear and self-isolate
- Give everyone the side-eye.
You may want to look deeper into what it means to have an underactive heart chakra.
Anna’s Overactive Heart Chakra
Coronation day for Anna feels like a dream! And she’s not even the one getting crowned! Finally, she can vibe with everyone, and experience the warmth and connection she’s been missing. And maybe, just maybe, she’ll find a little Romance.
But most importantly, it’s an opportunity for her to celebrate her sister Elsa.
The one person who brought her pure childhood joy. Even though she became a closed door, leaving Anna to navigate her formative years and the loss of their parents alone.
But even through all that, Anna understands that people have needs, and she’s got to accommodate that for the sake of the connection.
Anna has an overactive heart chakra and has learned to find her joy only in other people.
So when Elsa drops the bomb that opening the gates is a one-time deal, she thinks, I’ll be damned if I keep living like this.
If you resonate with Anna. Or you find yourself
- Super empathetic
- Boundary-challenged
- Putting everyone else’s first
- A bit clingy or codependent
You might want to look into what it means to have an overactive heart chakra.
The beginning of the end of their karmic cycles
I want to add a disclaimer and mention that just because you resonate with one or the other doesn’t mean you’re stuck. .
The younger me would have totally been Team Anna until my teenage years hit.
However, regardless of the past, your personal power can bring it back into balance.
If you want to treat a heart chakra, holistic methods are the way to go.
Like journaling, meditation, and yoga. But, if you’re ready to heal on a soul level, watch Anna and Elsa step out of those old karmic cycles.
How are Karmic Cycles Depicted in Frozen?
A Karmic cycle involves the repetition of events or emotions until a spiritual lesson is learned.
Once you identify and begin to step out of the cycle by choosing differently, you acquire wisdom at a soul level.
As children, we understand that our emotions can create beautiful connections.
However, the experience and internalization of fear often prompt us to shut down this expressive part of ourselves.
Similar to Elsa, if you aren’t taught to handle fear-induced emotions constructively, controlling them becomes a challenge.
Unintentionally, causing hurt and fear in others.
As a child, Elsa’s father teaches her to suppress her emotions. So Elsa develops this belief that her emotions (powers) cause others pain, compelling her to keep them hidden.
Feeling trapped, Elsa isolates herself.
Creating this physical and emotional barrier between her and the things she cares about.
Thus keeping the karmic cycle from playing out.
Or so she thinks.
In reality, the cycle still plays out.
It just looks different.
Elsa’s fear intensifies because it hasn’t been addressed. Leading to continued isolation, which still causes Anna pain.
Instead of external persecution for the pain she’s caused, she persecutes herself by locking herself away from all that she loves.
I’ll break down their karmic cycles in more detail in another video, drop a comment if you’re interested.
But Elsa’s stuck in her karmic cycle until her coronation day.
When Anna does something….unexpected.
Anna Steps Out of her Karmic cycle
Anna’s love for her big sister Elsa knew no bounds. Their carefree childhood days were filled with laughter and adventure.
That is until Elsa got her own room. She no longer wanted to play, and the King and Queen never said a word about it. Despite Anna’s persistent attempts to
pull her sister out of her room, she was met with the same response.
“Go away, Anna”
Obediently, Anna retreated into her now quiet home.
When the King and Queen sailed off to sea, never to return, Anna expected Elsa to want to bond over their shared grief.
Now that they’re all they have. She knocks on Elsa’s door again, hoping for the connection she missed from her childhood.
Only to be met with silence and an empty house once again.
Anna found herself spending a large amount of her childhood sacrificing her need for connection and submitting to Elsa’s need for space.
Karmic cycles often start from way back, in memories we can’t even remember.
Anna keeps reaching out because she feels like she needs Elsa. Because when Elsa was around, her inner child was happy.
This whole karmic drama continues until Elsa’s coronation day.
On coronation day, Elsa pushes Anna away again. Only this time, Anna has met Hans.
Hans gives Anna a taste of everything she thinks she’s been missing. Fun, excitement, and connection. Hans turns her world upside down.
They even bond over a shared wound of being invisible. Shut out from the world they think they deserve.
And for the first time in forever, Anna feels seen. So this must be love…right?
Anna knows her sister will be stoked about their marriage.
But again, she gets the cold shoulder.
Elsa tells the staff to close the gates.
But today, Anna does something different.
She speaks her truth.
Anna speaks up about her needs instead of submitting to what Elsa needs.
This small act triggers a massive change that goes beyond just her.
Elsa Ascends the Mountain (and Spiritually)
Elsa can take a deep breath now that her coronation is complete.
She’s held it together through the ceremony and once this party is over she can head back to the safety of her isolation.
But hold on, Anna’s back, and wants to marry…a complete stranger?
Concerned, Elsa tries to advise Anna privately, but Anna’s frustration boils over. She speaks her truth, expressing her unhappiness.
Anna’s never done this before.
Doesn’t she understand that Elsa’s only trying to keep her safe? Elsa locks away the best of herself to keep everyone safe from her powers.
Just for Anna to tell her she’s unhappy?
This unexpected event floods Elsa’s emotions to where she can no longer hide them.
And now one of her worst fears unfolds, outsiders want to persecute her for her powers.
Elsa decides to break free from the kingdom she’s felt has held her hostage.
Elsa retreats to isolation again, only this isolation is different. This time Elsa ascends the mountain. – Spiritual symbol of the path of enlightenment and ascension.
Various cultures have associated mountains with temples, gods, and deities.
The belief that the higher you were, the closer you were to the heavens is observed by many. And reaching the summit transforms you forever.
Elsa’s escape allows her to master her gifts without judgment and persecution. In her ice palace, she reconnects with her inner child, creating a space her childhood self would have adored.
Leaving behind expectations, Elsa finally embraces her emotions.
Anna Ascends the Mountain to Gain Clarity
Anna’s devastated that her typically reserved sister has kept this huge secret.
She was all set to live the dream-Hans, the party, the open gates.
But then Elsa Ascends the mountain and Anna’s like, “Hold up what do I really want?”
Anna takes off after her sister and ascends the mountain.
Along the way, Anna bumps into Kristoff, an Ice harvester who needs a little help.
Anna strikes a deal, but this time she boldly lays out her needs and sets a boundary.
One Kristoff can’t ignore.
If your heart chakra is overactive, setting boundaries might not be your cup of tea. You tend to go with the flow, neglecting your needs for the sake of others.
But take this one from Anna, because once she starts expressing her needs and setting boundaries, Her ascension takes off.
And she’s able to build a balanced relationship with Kristoff from the get-go.
Elsa and Anna Face Inner Child Memories and their Karmic Cycle
When Anna shows up in Elsa’s ice palace with Olaf in hand, Elsa faces the moment her inner child first learns her powers aren’t safe.
Anna’s presence makes Elsa realize that while she’s liberated herself, she’s left everyone else in the cold.
The inner child seeks love and connection as much as it craves creativity and emotional expression.
Elsa unintentionally striking Anna’s heart symbolizes the replay of life’s traumatizing moments until we choose to heal. It also highlights how an underactive heart chakra, lacking emotional control, can harm others emotionally.
On the flip side, when our heart chakra is overactive, we can leave ourselves vulnerable to hurt and exploitation.
Even at the mountain’s summit, the karmic cycle repeats, and Elsa shuts Anna out once again.
Elsa Must End Her Karmic Cycle
Elsa, left alone to have her anxiety attack in her palace, once again prepares for persecution for her gifts.
This time, at the mountain’s peak, she throws in the towel.
When you surrender, you actively give up control.
Elsa gives up trying to fight the fear within others, she surrenders and allows.
Elsa decides not to let the fear others have to determine who she becomes.
Then captured and brought back to Arendelle, she’s yet to figure out how to deal with her inner fears.
The storm in Arendelle worsens, and Hans pushes Elsa to face her childhood nightmare- causing her sister’s demise.
Elsa realizes her greatest fear has come true and the storm stands still.
Elsa hasn’t been able to overcome her karmic cycle because she never learned how to transmute fear.
To transmute fear, you have to feel it. Along with all the other emotions that accompany it.
When Elsa sees Anna turn to ice, she feels it all.
But the ice doesn’t melt just yet.
Anna Finds the Key
Anna’s last shot at saving her heart involves finding Kristoff.
But when Anna notices Elsa in trouble, her newfound understanding of true love, thanks to Kristoff, prompts her to act from her heart.
Despite past pain.
This selfless act of unconditional love is what Elsa needs to finally transmute her fear.
As a result, Anna and Elsa begin to attract everything they’ve longed for. Elsa discovers that the vibration of love conquers fear, enabling her to embrace joy and fulfillment as her authentic self and fostering genuine connections with others.
Meanwhile, Anna realizes that advocating for herself and setting boundaries opens the door to the fulfilling relationships she desires.
Stepping out of their karmic cycles and taking responsibility for their own lessons, both sisters learn they can attain everything they want.
As karma balances out, they find themselves relating to each other on much better terms, paving the way for a harmonious and fulfilling future.
