Wrong.
Letting go of fear seems so easy on the surface, but there is so much to it that people don’t tell you!
I’ve lived a majority of my life as a worrier.
Fear-based thinking ruled many of my decisions!
I’m not sure where it comes from. But I have to deal with it.
And it is not always easy.
There was a while, though, where I was definitely not dealing with it!
Eventually, my stress began to manifest physically, causing me health issues.
So I changed my diet and felt great!
But I quickly realized that it was going to take more work.
A different type of work, to push past the fear-based thinking that ruled my life!
Internal work… Emotional work…

Here are 5 unexpected truths about what really happens after letting go of Fear-Based Thinking.
1. You’ll Let Go of Goals and Manifestations
Yes, it’s a weird paradox!
You’re probably endlessly researching how to let go of fear-based thinking to pursue the goals you’ve always wanted.
Just to realize that after you begin the process of letting go, some of the goals you set beforehand aren’t as appealing as they were before.
Don’t worry though!
Those old goals don’t align with the version of you that lives without fear.
It’s surprising when you realize it, but it’s not a bad thing!
Maybe it’s a job you thought you wanted before you bravely started separating yourself from fear.
Before, you may have wanted to be the CEO of a Fortune 500 company. But after you examine that “dream job” a little closer, you realize that your dream isn’t having the day-to-day tasks of a CEO. In reality, it’s about the paycheck that comes with it.
And deep down, you want that paycheck because what you want to feel is a sense of security or freedom. (I know I do.)
Underneath that desire lies a fear of being without or not having enough.
And it’s a valid feeling to have!
Most people experience what that fear feels like at some point in life.
The transformation in your life begins when you can feel that fear and still choose to move forward in your truth anyway!
Once I realized this I started to take my goal setting day by day and journaled my feelings regularly.
I used each morning to reconnect with myself and eventually found what goals really align with me!

2. Conversations Get Tougher
This part is temporary but VERY noticeable.
When you choose to stop feeding your fear-based thinking, you’ll find that it gets harder to hold conversations with some people. And it’s nobody’s fault!
When you let go of fear, you have to flex your positivity muscle A LOT more. You’ll realize that things you would usually say are just subconscious reactions that are laced with fear.
For example, you’re talking to your friend about applying for a job and the job description lists more “preferred” qualifications than you have on your resume.
Before the mindset shift, you and your friends might have conversations like…
“I can’t apply for that. I’m not qualified, all they’re going to do is laugh at me and throw my resume in the trash”.
But after releasing your habit of fear-based thinking, those generalized, self-deprecating comments don’t feel right coming out of your mouth.
Luckily, this won’t last long.
It’s like a muscle that gets stronger with use. And because now you realize the way that you used to speak isn’t serving you, it strengthens pretty quickly.
Transformation happens when you make a conscious effort to live your life without speaking your fear into existence.
I personally noticed my emotional state improved on a daily basis because I wasn’t falling into the trap of having conversations that reinforced my fears.

3. You’ll See When Other People Are Stuck In Fear-Based Thinking
Yes, your realization of your own fears triggers people.
It’s a beautiful yet painful phenomenon.
Because most people we spend time around tend to have the same fears as us!
Go figure.
People closest to you will start to notice the work you are doing to overcome fear-based thinking and begin to project their fears onto you.
From here, you have two choices…
You can give in to the fear and the doubt, or you can keep pushing forward.
Just because you can see other people living in fear, doesn’t mean you have to live there with them!
For example, If you’re facing a fear of being seen and have a dream of performing on Broadway. Start taking steps to do it!
It’s a beautiful dream and completely attainable.
Just keep in mind there may be people who will remind you of the “what-ifs”. Those that tell you stories of people who failed. And even those that tell you that you won’t make it.
Don’t worry about what they say and don’t blame them!
They’re not aware that they’re speaking fear into your dreams. Just remember to not take it personally and to only fight your own battles!
The life of your dreams is waiting for you on the other end.
4. Fear-Based Thoughts Fight Back!
Fear is a ruthless competitor.
One only the bravest of souls decides to take on. The day you choose to stop letting fear-based thinking intertwine itself into your decisions is the day you free yourself.
YOU are your knight in shining armor. And the battle has already started!
Be prepared, because what happens after is the most shocking part of it all…
Fear doesn’t go down without a fight.
It will come back even stronger when you’re winning the battle.
It will manifest as anxiety and intrusive thoughts. Sometimes you may even confuse it with your intuition. You will feel it more than you ever have before.
It’s your body’s way of letting you know that you’re embarking on a journey you’ve never been on before.
The key to surviving these reappearances of fear-based thinking is to remember the feeling.
Remember what fear feels like. Is it discomfort in your chest? Nausea? Is it a loud “What if?” Or is it a quiet feeling of doom in the back of your mind?
Fear only gets stronger and sneakier when you are successfully defeating it!
So if you have days where fear creeps back in and you can recognize it, make sure you take a beat and remember that it won’t be around much longer.
For the past few months, I’ve been fighting this particular battle.
And I’ve noticed fear attempt to creep into the driver’s seat more than a few times.
What worked best for me was creating a daily practice of journaling and grounding to connect with my inner voice.
Meditation also helped me learn the difference between fear and intuition.

5. Releasing Fear-Based Thinking Means Your Days Will Get Brighter
As much as we can recognize our own fear-based thinking in the big life-changing decisions we make, we tend to ignore it when it appears in our daily actions.
When you let go of fear, you may notice your day-to-day experience becomes that much better.
Maybe you stop participating in conversations where the other person is determined to only have discussions through their lens of fear.
Or you choose to spend the night at home when you need the rest instead of giving into FOMO.
Or you speak up even when you’re not 100% sure you’re correct because you’re not afraid of being wrong anymore.
Making the effort to recognize where fear lies in your life will change your whole experience.
You’ll feel lighter, less burdened, and truly free! And you’ll be wondering why you haven’t done it sooner.
